Obedience Training and Problem Solving
This program is tailored to the needs of you and your dog. Your dog will be taught to follow your commands and be reliable in your home as well as in real world distractions. *Basic manners and obedience are included.
*Basic Manners:
Off furniture (if desired) 
No Jumping on people Quiet on command
Waiting at the door Eliminate puppy/play biting
*Basic Obedience:
Sit on command (maintaining sit/stay) Down on command (maintaining a down/stay)
Go to place (bed, rug, or mat and remain there) Walk with you (heel)
Recall (come) to you off-leash from a distance
Once you have completed at least 4 private lessons with your dog, you may enter group classes. Group class offers a new level of excitement and fun! You will learn new games to play with your dog to build reliability in real world distractions and polish your skills as a handler. Group classes will be held at Tails-A-Wagg’n Pet Resort (250 41st Ave Dr SW, Cedar Rapids, IA 52404). As a member of the Pack Leaders Dog Training program you will be invited to attend Pack Walks, which are held at least once a month in public settings throughout the Marion/Cedar Rapids area. Please see the Pack Leaders Calendar of Events for current Pack Walk events and locations.
Puppy Preschool
Begin shaping the behaviors you can live with for many years to come! Just think, you will have your dog for the rest of his/her life, that’s a long time to have to live with behaviors you don’t like.
You will learn how to:
Housebreak your puppy Provide basic grooming and health care
Play positive games with your puppy Reduce troublesome behaviors such jumping up, chewing inappropriately, puppy/play biting, and possessiveness over toys or food.
Begin shaping behaviors such as:
Leash walking Waiting at the door Sit and Come
In this class your puppy will be exposed to many socialization opportunities with other people, puppies and children. We teach you how to boost your dog’s confidence to reduce fearful behavior. This is a four week course which you attend with your puppy once a week. Please see the Pack Leader Calendar of Events for dates of the next Puppy Preschool course.
It’s important for your dog to understand these commands not only when you are at home in a controlled environment but also in public settings. Wouldn’t you like to take your dog to the pet-store or park and have it be peaceful and calm instead of chaotic and stressful?
